Since my childhood days, I have been inquisitive and a critical thinker which explains why I enjoy learning about new things and read on a variety of subject matters including business, history, politics, cultures, science, and technology. I soon realized from my social experiences that we often underestimate the influence of a company one keeps. When we are with intelligent and smart people, we learn a lot more than we realize. Similarly, environment also plays a huge role in the development of one’s personality, knowledge, and belief systems. At the same time, I have also been ambitious and determined to excel in life. I realize my good fortune in coming to America from my native Jamaica and wants to take the maximum advantage of what this country has to offer. It is only natural I am attracted to New York University (NYU) and Nursing School in particular which is one of the top 25 nursing programs in the nation. NYU’s Nursing School’s reputation in the country demonstrates that the program has established itself for superior faculty, quality student body, strong professional network, and ample learning opportunities.

NYU holds attraction for me also due to its unique setting in probably the most cosmopolitan city in the world. As much as brilliant instructors will help me maximize my learning over the course of the nursing program, I also expect to learn a lot by engaging with the smart and intelligent diverse student body. There is no lack of applicants for NYU’s Nursing program which means NYU only selects candidates who have the potential to maintain NYU Nursing School’s tradition of excellence.

I have met people who have graduated from NYU Nursing program and almost everyone praised the Nursing Program’s practical approach to education. Not only students learn under some of the best nursing instructors who have extensive industry experience but are also encouraged to network with industry professionals and stay in touch with the latest nursing trends in the real world. I was often told that employers are always impressed with NYU Nursing School’s graduate and find them to be some of the most competitive employees. Over the years, they have developed a deep trust in the NYU brand. I have always had high self-confidence. Life is only given once so we only have one chance to realize our true potential. But at the same time, we also need help from others to do so. This is why I want to go to NYU Nursing School because I know the school will provide me the best education and provide solid foundation as an aspiring nursing professional.

New York is probably the most diverse city in the world, thus, the city is also a very attractive destination to pursue Nursing education. Patients from all over the world come to New York to have access to the best medical treatment. Through NYU Nursing School, I will have access to internship programs at some of the best healthcare organizations that will help me build strong cross-cultural and communication skills as well. Success in nursing profession is not only about technical competency but also non-technical skills such as communication, cross-cultural knowledge, and human relations.

I believe NYU Nursing program will not only meet me education needs but also help me learn soft-skills to succeed in today’s competitive healthcare industry. Moreover, I will also bring unique perspectives and experience into the program as someone who is aware of the healthcare standards in both developing and developed countries.
