Business Proposal

Global warming has emerged as one of the biggest social issues in recent decades. One way to reduce the impact of human activities on environment is through recycling which is not only ethically right but also economically beneficial. This is why this paper proposes the development of a recycling center which will not only improve the reputation of the community and help increase the awareness of environmental pollution among its residents but also inspire other communities.

Studies have shown a positive relationship between the prosperity level of nations and the strictness of environmental regulations (Brown & Shaw, 1999). Recycling center will create jobs and also help manufacturers reduce their energy costs. A report by the institute for Local Self Reliance (ILSR) found that 15,000 tons of solid waste creates only one job if landfilled but nine jobs if processed for recycling (Watson, 1996). Similarly, the manufacturers in the state of New Jersey are estimated to save nearly 17.2% of all energy due to the state’s recycling efforts. In addition, recycled material could be sold to create a valuable funding source for the community. There are over 1,000 types of recycled products on the market and due to advancements in technology, these recycled products meet the highest quality standards. In addition, economic value will also be created through savings in providing clean water and air as well as reduced need of landfills (New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection).

Recycling center will be a win-win situation for everyone in the community. It will improve the community’s economy as well as environmental quality. All of us have a social responsibility to be careful of the environmental consequences of our actions and a recycling center may motivate the residents in the community to change its disposal habits. But more than anything else, establishing a recycling center will help us sustain the environment for future generations.
