Introduction
A child has to go through several development stages before they become mature. They gradually learn the various life aspects through trials and errors until they perfect it (Whiten & Van 2018). This research study will focus on the speech and language development in children in the UK and primary school age. The study will research how children develop these skills as they grow and become skilled communicators.
Hypothesis
This research proposal will focus on one aspect of child development: language and speech development (Brezunet al., 2021). In this study, data will be collected and analyzed from several children who are in the stage where they start practicing how to communicate. Children growing in an environment where many people talk to them learn how to speak faster than those brought up in lonely environments.
Research method and design
This study will use several research methods to review case studies and observational trials. Case studies involve detailed reviewing of previously collected information related to the current study (Rahi 2017). Observational trials involve data collection in many people over a certain period. Such a study aims to investigate whether there is any correlation between one study and another.
Research procedure
The research involves an eight-step procedure. It starts with identification and topic development. Then preliminary search for relevant materials follows. Material collection for the research, source evaluation, note-taking, writing on a paper, citing and then proofreading (Schmid 2020). These steps are essential in making a reliable conclusion on language and speech development in children.
Method of data collection
The data collection method in this research will involve the use of samples collected from various children in the UK system and primary school age (Mosser & Korstjens 2018). Data will also be obtained from previously researched literature about children’s language and speech development. Data will be recorded in excel format, which will enable easier comparison and conclusions made from the latter. The data collected from different children’s samples will be compared against each other.
Ethical issues from the research and how they will be dealt with
One of the research’s ethical issues is the researcher’s skills. In any research, there are three essential elements. These are competency, worthwhile expected outcomes, and careful design (Ngozwana 2018). It is expected that in any research, high levels of skills should be utilized to reduce errors and give reliable information. This ethical issue will be dealt with by advising the researchers to state any area where they lack knowledge. Inexperienced researchers should be supervised and their data analyzed by the ethics committee.
Another ethical issue is vulnerable groups of people. these are people with no ability to defend their rights, such as children in this case. There are varying opinions about their participation in projects such as research. This is attributed to their need for protection as they are at greater risk in the hands of the researcher. Children are defenseless and cannot control the actions of the researcher in the process of data collection. This issue will be dealt with through an intense analysis of the potential risks that might arise from the research due to interacting with children. After identifying the risks, the necessary measures will be taken to ensure that all children will be safe. For example, their parents can be present when data collection occurs. In the presence of their parents, their safety will be guaranteed.
