Relevance of MBA to My Personal and Professional Goals, Admission Essay Example

I am obsessed with numbers. The moment I saw some financial data, I immediately start thinking about its analysis and interpretations. With accounting and finance background, I always dream of becoming a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in a top notch investment bank. As a CFO, I need to have advanced knowledge of accounting and finance for making financial policy and corporate planning for my organization. Moreover, I, as a CFO, need to play two vital roles; the controller and Treasure. As a controller, I will be responsible for the management of cash, capital and relationship with banks. And as a controller, I have to oversee the preparation of financial statements as well as accounting and taxes. In addition to this, I have to be involved in capital budgeting, project planning and evaluation. All the aforementioned professional requirements need extensive knowledge of financial theory and practice. To be well versed in these areas, I think a master’s level degree like MBA, accounting and finance, is extremely important for me.

The achievement of these professional goals is very much in line with my personal goals as well. In my personal life, I want to be a successful working woman, who is financially independent and a source of inspiration to my kids. This financial self-sufficiency is no more an option for me but it has become the Hobson’s choice. I am living in times of utmost financial distress where numbers of companies are filing bankruptcy and too many people are losing their jobs each day. It is harder to run family’s financial life solely on the salary of one bread winner. In these circumstances, I want to become an asset rather than a liability for my family. Plus as I mentioned, I always idealized my father as an epitome who is discharging his personal and professional duties successfully. Hence it is my dream to be an MBA of Arizona State University, which is one of most cherished universities in my homeland, Kuwait, and to lead a successful life of modern working women.
