The article covers the conceptual framework of self advocacy which include knowledge of self knowledge of rights, communication and leadership. Self Advocacy it was shown had roots that extends as far back as the People First Movement and has been modeled on the Civil Rights Movements of the 1950’s and 1960’s.

People first concept was founded on the idea that people with disabilities can be responsible for their own social .organizational. According to Wehmeyer (2002), individuals with disabilities who were strong self advocates, are often challenges the perception of others, who view them as incapable of making decisions about their own lives and needed professional guidance and protection (Siegel & Kantor, 1982).

People, who are determined according to Self Advocate concepts, are more likely to have successful outcomes in post school lives. (Wehymeyer, Palmer, 2003), while  Test et al (2005) argues that Self Advocacy is important at all levels , Arnold (2001)  stress the need for students to learn about themselves as it enable them to communicate what they need at the younger stage.

Finally Test et al. (2005), contends that a conceptual framework will be helpful for developing future instructional strategies as well as organizing research agendas, so that effective and significant results becomes achievable.
