Statement of Purpose in Architecture, Personal Statement Example

During my early studies I did not know a lot about architecture but I wanted to select a career doing something creative. My interest in design and buildings resulted in my passion for architecture. I have been drawn to your department of graduate studies and the undergraduate degree in Architecture. I feel that my experience to date and existing qualifications makes me a strong candidate for this course. I have already gained some preliminary work experience but I now wish to build on a more in depth theoretical understanding of Architecture. I hope to accomplish this by developing the right undergraduate studies and the facilitation of appropriate field research during the summer periods.

I am particularly interested in your University and the Architectural degree course. I believe that your excellent reputation and fine academic staff will provide me with the right level of professional instruction. A degree in Architecture will compliment my existing qualifications and help me to secure an entry level position in this field. I am particularly interested in improving my creative, design and artistic skills at the University. This I hope to achieve by a combination of research, development of theoretical knowledge and by application to architectural projects. It is this blend that degree education offers which will enable me to take the next important step in my career.

The University has excellent demonstrable research facilities and a first class library that will assist in the theoretical learning component. The Faculty has accomplished professional professors in the architectural field and as such well equipped to provide my degree learning requirements. Finally, by undertaking the course with a recognized institution it should enable me to build a network with a peer group of likeminded students wishing to make a career in architecture.
