Organizational Communication

The key and underlying issues affecting communication in my organization pertain to top down transmission of information. For example, decisions are made by management, but seldom are they transmitted accurately to supervisors or employees. The irony, however, is that employees are expected to confirm with regulations when they have partial information about the issue being addressed. Experts contend that topdown management styles destroy organizations and block communication between management and staff. Further, psychologist Douglas McGregor has referenced this behavior to being derived from the Theory X. Essentially, it is based on the assumption that employees tend to be lazy not offering their best to the organization (May&Mumby, 2011).

The key facts development relate to bosses due to the command and control or topdowncommunication system employees’ initiative is destroyed because they tend to be going to work only for the pay check. Essentially, they are non- active participants in the organization except to do as bosses say in earning their pay. The organization alternatively is robed of ideas coming up from the bottom to enhance growth(Littlejohn &Foss, 2010).

A possible solution is combining top down with bottom top approaches utilizing them when necessary. Both styles have their advantages and disadvantages.Organizations ought to develop strategies when it is most appropriate, to adopt either technique. For example, when decisions are made that affect top management then there should be no need for the bottom up approach. However, decisions that affect employees’ performance must have a bottom up  systemapproach also. Improving organizational communication is key to resolving top bottom communication issues in any organization. Importantly, respecting employees as being valuable to the company is another vital solution. The organization in itself is the communication mechanism according to explanations from the video ( Koschmann, 2012)
