Admission Essay

Booker T. Washington once stated, “Associate yourself with people of good quality, for it is better to be alone than in bad company.” This quote is quite influential to me for it has prompted me to make application to Yale University because at Yale I will be associating myself with company of great students, great professors and excellent learning sources. I strive to be a person of great quality and would like to help others in society achieve their goals. I can do this with an exemplary education from one of the top Ivy League colleges in the United States. When someone says Yale or Ivy League College the words speak a certain distinction to their education and can help them to achieve their further graduate goals as well as obtaining a great career.

If I were on the committee of admissions for Yale University I would ask the applicants to write a two page argumentative essay on any topic of their choosing to convince me why they should be admitted. The purpose of the essay would be so decipher the student’s mediation and arguing skills as well as ability to write correctly formatted academic papers. These skills are very essential in order to be successful at Yale.

I wish I was much better at negotiating and settling arguments of disputes. Many times there are litigation and controversy due to a person’s inability to successfully negotiate a difference of opinion. The best angle to follow with a controversial situation is to try to furnish a ‘win-win’ situation. This means essentially that both parties leave the situation feeling they have gained something profitable from the negotiation. There are no winners and losers.

I am an excellent student; possess good moral character, a very nice personality and motivation to succeed. Yale is seeking the applicant that will go the extra mile to accomplish their dreams or the cream of the crop. I am the cream of the crop because of my academic achievements, extra-curricular achievements and social skills. Learning to deal with life on life’s terms is what enables me to be a successful person and will enable me to preserve with my studies at Yale University. A thorough educational background as well as social distinction is needed to succeed in the Ivy League world-of which I possess most vehemently!
