Dovima With the Elephants, Speech Example

Richard Avedon is perhaps best known for his photographic works of shooting the stars such as Naomi Campbell, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Moore and Cindy Crawford. He created an era of supermodels with numerous flattering shots that became well known in Europe and all across the states. Photography Magazine named him one of the top ten infamous photographers in 2002. Many other photographers struggled to mimic his charismatic style but were unable to. He worked for Vogue, Harper’s Bizarre and was divested as the top paid photographer in the world before he died at the ripe age of 81 in October 2004. “One of his most infamous works was named “On Democracy” where he spent many months shooting politicians, delegates and citizens from around the entire country.”

The photograph depicting the ballerina lady amongst the herd of elephants is a vision of black and white beauty which reflects poise and demeanor of eccentricity. This photograph is named “Dovina with the Elephants”. The lady is dancing whilst the elephants are lifting their feet in unison which creates a charming co-existence of asymmetry through which the figure is centered. There is great contrast through which the white of the ribbon around her waist and her face and collarbones lie exquisitely against the darker tones of the background. There are the softer gray tones around the elephants that soften the photograph and a playfulness that resembles a curl in the trunk of the elephants’ trunks. This photograph was actually taken as part of a Christian Dior photo shoot and Dovima was a supermodel during the 1950’s.
