Gun Control Is Ok and Why, Speech Example

Pages: 2

Words: 465

Speech

Today, I would like to talk about an important issue, which has been debated for several years and it is being debated up to thisday (Goss 88). There has been no democratic legislation that has ever been put in place for the ban of all guns. Instead, we call a gun control. We need tight gun control measures in this country to save thousands of lives, which are lost due to uncontrolledgunshots (Cornell and Nathan 487). Many people die in the United States as compared to other countries in the world. In addition, there are more crimes, which are related to guns in United States than other nations.

Gun control should be embraced as it is not a threat to our freedom, but it saves many lives (Lott 53). According to the researchconducted by the FBI in 2010, it indicated that 6,009 people were killed by use of handguns. This was estimated to 67.5% of allthe murders in our country in that year. Our constitutional rights are very much important and valid, but no right is absolute, without consideration or exception for particular circumstances. The right to freedom of speech is much limited (Cook, Anthony, and Mark 270). This is because it limits us from spreading false information about bomb attacks or threats knowingly.

A rule should be passed whereby a child under 21 years cannot be in possession of a gun. This will reduce the loss of lives causedby young children playing with guns. Those in possession of guns will not allow young children to access their guns as per therequirements from the rule (Vizzard 93). The authorities who are licensed to manufacture or assemble guns should issue the gunsto the authorized people only. To control the issue of guns to wrong people, measures should be put in place where the victimsare punished accordingly. This will make our country be saved for both the residents and visitors from other countries (Blumstein & Joel 142). The rates of development will increase as the investors will feel save when establishing and running their business. This is because they will not fear that they might be attacked or robbed of their properties and even their lives.
