Paleo Diet and Nutrition, Research Proposal Example

There are myths surrounding health, modermity and indigenous/modern diets. The myths links modern diet and prevalence of certain diseases like cancer. On the other hand, indigenous diets typical of the ancient era is viewed as the ideal diet to promote good health and is in harmony with the body hence does not cause ailments like cancer.

However, the current trend of advancement in technology and the rise in population does not support the Paleodiet. There is also the popularity of the modern diet that has made it spread into the developing nations. The two diets therefore should be closely looked at the myths unraveled.

Research and debates have been ongoing. There has been the myth of organically and genetically modified organisms and health coupled with the preferred paleo diet in preventing diseases like cancer; as noted by Hall (2014),science needs to inform such discussions.

The views held by paleo diet proponents that, it presents an ideal diet for perfect health and body has got no profound basis. Their view of modern diet as an enemy of the body and their tendency to adopt Paleolithic behaviors are just but the responses to the changing concepts in technology, conditions and modernity as attested by Johnson (2015).

There are no known risks and benefits of paleo diet. Some of the foods in their diet are known to predispose individuals to diseases like cancer for instance the animal proteins and the low carbohydrates. Therefore, their prescriptions are just utopian manual a myths on diet (Challem, 2013).Research into the development of the organic and genetically modified organism were a response to the increasing population in relation to the available food resources(Gibbons, 2014).

The changing trends of the modern world calls for a transformation on diets and therefore Paleo dieters need to integrate modernism into their prescriptions and to rely on proven science to back their arguments. Therefore, there is a knowledge gap in the integration of the modern diet and the Paleo diet. Also little is known about the relationship between Paleo diet and health and the relationship between modernity and health.

The research questions would be; what are the results of the integrations of Paleo diet and modern diets on the health. The research will be very informative in providing in-depth information on both indigenous and modern diets in relation to health. It will also help in bringing out clarity to avoid any myth surrounding the issue.
