Personal Statement

Nursing is one of the most personally, professionally, and spiritually rewarding careers. Nurses play a crucial role in influencing the lives of a vast majority in society, which has inspired me to pursue a career in nursing. Since childhood, I have always wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to provide service to humanity through care. Also, I have always been inspired to impact social change that can help improve patient care. My professional as a Clinical Nurse Leader offers me many opportunities to improve the quality of care. Nurses have the potential to transform quality care as they are primarily involved in decision-making. Besides, nurse leaders can impact social change, which can help improve patient care. Owing to this is the fact that the leadership in nursing practice allows nurses to provide evidence-based care, which will enable me to bring social change. Due to this, I aspire to advance my career in nursing to be able to set patients up to a lifetime of freedom. By doing this, I will have the capacity to bring better solutions to common challenges in nursing practice. I love the nursing career because it gives me the desire to improve quality of care through proper leadership. I have always desired to serve and care for people, and by attaining leadership in nursing, I believe I can achieve this dream. A good leader should possess effective communication and critical thinking skills, which I have. I am good at communication, which has motivated me to pursue a career in nursing. The skill will allow me to interact easily with the patients and other nurses. Notably, I have grown up seeing nurses sacrifice their time to help the sick, which has motivated menstrual irregularities to be a part of the nursing team. Incredibly, this makes the care more appealing to me as bringing a difference in people’s lives through care has been among my significant goals. Being an effective nursing professional, one needs to have different skills, such as motivation, effective communication and critical thinking skills.

Clinical Nurse leaders play crucial roles and responsibilities within any healthcare setting. As a result, they have a substantial impact on patient care. Among the most critical roles of clinical nurse leaders is to evaluate healthcare treatment and risks across all populations. Notably, this is the most appealing role as it will help me achieve outstanding clinical outcomes. I have always aspired to be a part of a team that would substantially change human lives by improving the quality of care. Therefore, pursuing a nursing career will provide me with an opportunity to join a leadership team that will transform the nature of care in diverse healthcare settings. The leadership position in clinical nursing will enable me to evaluate various potential physical and psychological risks associated with medication in patient care. Incredibly, this will help me develop better interventions to improve the quality of patient care and increase safety in nursing practice. Remarkably, clinical nursing leaders foresee and implement safety standards that help ensure that the workplace environment is safe for nurses. If I qualify for the leadership position, I will always ensure that the safety standards are implemented to reduce injuries in nursing practice. I have always wanted to be a part of the nursing leadership team that would bring change to nursing practice. I will also ensure that the relationship between nurses and patients is built positively. I will achieve this by training the nurses on effective communication skills to help the nurses to relate positively with the patients. Incredibly, this will help me improve patient care and clinical outcome by promoting trust and the mental well-being of the patients.

Once I have graduated, I would like to handle patients in the in-patient acute care unit. Growing I have aspired to care for people in critical condition, especially those in the acute care unit Acute care is one of the areas where further changes are needed to improve patient care hence my desire to serve in the department. There is yet high mortality in acute care, mainly due to prolonged stays in the hospital by the patients in the critical care unit. Therefore, I would like to use the skills and knowledge acquired in my nursing career to improve the quality of care for a patient admitted to acute care. Notably, this will be accomplished by conducting further studies to identify better ways to improve the quality of care for the patients in the acute care department. I will ensure quality care is offered to patients following their informed consent. I grew up seeing doctors and nurses practicing an informed care treatment approach that seems appealing and effective. Notably, this has inspired me to pursue a career in nursing and exercise the same strategy on patients in critical conditions. Patients tend to recover quicker when they understand and accept the treatment approach. Therefore, as a clinical nurse leader, I will ensure that my team members are trained on better ethical codes applicable before and during treatment. If I attain a leadership position in nursing, I will teach other nurses effective compunction skills to build trust between them and the patients to promote their psychological well-being. Incredibly, this will help me attain optimal care within the acute care, thus, helping the patients to recover quicker to reduce prolonged stays in the care.

Nevertheless, I have grown up seeing nurses playing a key role in improving the quality of care to ensure that patient is treated well. I plan to improve healthcare through intensive research to elevate the quality of patient care like other nurses. Also, in five years, I intend to start a project to empower patients about self-care to improve clinical outcomes. While nurses strive to deliver the best patient care, there are still loopholes affecting care. However, empowering the patients on self-care can help further improve the quality of care by lowering congestion in various healthcare settings. Therefore, I intend to ensure that patients are trained on the relevance of self-care to their healing. Notably, this strategy will help me to individualize patient care, making treatment more manageable and better. Nevertheless, empowering the patients on self-care will help me limit prolonged stays in acute care. Patients are assigned to actively participate in the self-care choices once they are discharged, thus, optimizing the quality of care.
