Sex Ed in Schools, Speech Example

Pages: 1

Words: 324

Speech

A parent’s knowledge and awareness of teens are taught about sex in schools is necessary (Landry 280-286). This is in an effort to ensure that the information being passed on to the children is accurate, complete, and reflects the family’s values (Lester 72–91). How many of you visit schools to seek for knowledge on what their children are taught in sex education classes? A big reason as to this is for the parent to be sure of how he or she could handle a question from the child regarding sexual matters, depending on the perceived level of knowledge of the child. Knowing the different sex education types is what as a parent, one need to value. Do we all agree to this? It is understandable that there are parents who have a different opinion that sex Education is not necessary for the children at such an early age (Daniel 52-56). However, let use try to comprehend on which side carries the weight as we progress with this discussion.

Two different sex education type classes exist and are taught within schools (Landry 280-286). The two classes are dependent on what the respective school mandates for teens with either an Abstinence-Only-Until-Marriage or Comprehensive Sexuality Education Program (Daniel 52-56). The two programs are a representation of two different schools of thought and present sex education from diverse perspective (Lester 72–91). Each type of education suits children differently, particularly when it comes to age. However, knowing what the child learns or the class he or she engage in, is quite beneficial to ensure better guidance for the child in sex education as a parent.
