Throughout history, women’s rights have changed from one society to another. As the globe becomes more civil and technologically advanced, gender roles have had to change, raising the need for women’s rights to become a critical element in human rights. Women have struggled with the demands that society puts on them traditionally and the changes that come with new gender roles. As a result, they have fought and raised their voice for the community to listen to their woes and push against sexual violence and non-recognition of their health, particularly reproductive health. It has been a difficult task for women to fight for their rights which at times forced them to go against the law to create recipes that could assist with family planning or steal tools that would assist during delivery and abortions (Saba et al. 1992). This issue of sexual rights for women is influenced both negatively and positively by traditional customs, religion, international communities, and constitutional rights. This dissertation paper argues about sexual rights and the implications of violations and non-recognition of women’s health in Italy. Despite efforts to tackle the issue, it remains an urgent matter to address (United Nations, n.d.).
This paper aims to assist in understanding women’s oppression, sexual violations, and gender discrimination. By clearly defining sexual rights, the paper evaluates the importance of sexual rights throughout history and compares it with the current state of the issue in the county. Specific rights also are identified both within the state and internationally, scrutinizing the key principles and elements that govern laws that govern sexual rights for women. The paper further analyses and discusses the implication of not recognizing women’s health. A qualitative and quantitative study examines the effects of non-recognition of these rights using surveys and interviews, exposing the state’s constraints to uphold women’s rights. This research assists come up with recommendations on how the issue can be handled better and bring more recognition to women’s health and sexual rights in Italy. The literature review digs deeper into the issue by evaluating the current history, rights, and how culture and religion, particularly Catholicism, influence the issue. An analysis of how women have been violated in current times, for instance, during the Covid 19 pandemic, is discussed (Romito et al., 2022). This study is critical because women are most likely to fall victim to right violation more than men through sexual violence, trafficking, forced prostitution, harmful cultural norms, and being deprived of reproductive health (Pietrobelli et al., 2020).
Additionally, the paper recommends advocacy for diversity and acceptance of changes in gender roles that influences the rights of women. Even though the change in gender roles and the emergence of feminist movements globally have bought light to the world on the necessity of women’s rights, there are still implications and areas where women’s health is not recognized (EIGE, n.d.). For this reason, more comprehensive research in these areas is essential to help improve the lives of women in Italy for current and future generations.
