Should the Driving Age Be Raised to 21? Speech Example

Pages: 2

Words: 504

Speech

Respected Audience,

The World Health Organization has reported more than 52% of fatal road accidents by those drivers who are in the age of 20-35. Permission of driving on open roads by those young drivers, who are yet under this age criteria seems highly questionable and objectionable to me. These young minds, which are full of enthusiasm, over reaction cannot possible be mature enough for driving on the roads on their own.

At present, awarding driving license to those who are eighteen and above is a big threat to the safety of other car drivers and pedestrians. With the present night life culture in our society, these young teenagers are more likely to get drunk in weekend parties and then try to drive their selves off to their respective homes. Is this a responsible act by allowing them driving permits which can lead to their own destruction and the damage of their own as well as other’s properties?

People in our society are already very depressed and tensed due to the ongoing recession and unemployment along with inflation. These economical pressures have increased blood pressure levels and cardiac stress. With these pressures upon parents, they are unable to exercise parental controls upon their children.

Who would be responsible for these tragedies? The government? The society? Us? The Audience? When the time comes for having responsibly, none of us are willing to bear it. The actual fact is that each and every body of us, sitting here right now or walking out the auditorium is responsible for these kids, who drive and then crash into other vehicles. Our society is responsible for this bloodshed and damage.

The American Psychological Association has regarded that persons aged 25 – 20 have a larger propensity to copy the acts done on the TV screen and cinemas. These innocent kids love to be like a batman or copy the fast and furious and feel as if they are racing on the streets. What they don’t understand that what they had seen on the TV was actually a graphically edited stunt. Shall we really allow them to drive and go for the dead man’s cake?

Ferociousness and over enthusiasm are the main characteristics of the teenage group. Whenever they find some car running fast on the road or on the screen, they immediately copy it. Ability to compromise and forget is practically nonexistent in the psychology of this age group. Howe do you think then, they could drive cars harmlessly, without having patience and maturity of thought built in their minds?

My friends, it’s high time when we should think about creating a change around us. Let’s raise voice against this gentle but bloody violence, where our youth is subject to those hazards with which they are not themselves familiar. We should raise a voice in front of the government to raise the driving age from 18 to 21. At least, we should allow some maturity and patience to build up in our youth, and let the youth be granted freedom from the hazards of dangerous driving.
