Speech

How important is a leader to an organization? While an organization may have all of the resources that are necessary for it to succeed, it needs an effective leader to be able to put all of its resources together and bring the organization to the pinnacle of its potential and beyond. Having a strong leadership philosophy is pivotal to effective leadership and this is what the following speech seeks to convey.

Strategic leadership goes beyond the conventional notions of leadership that have to do with simply being a good steward of an organization and motivating subordinates to do their best in their tasks. Including but beyond this, the effective leadership that is demanded by the times in this turbulent years for the field of education is one that is able to brave the new challenges before the administration, faculty, and students. For example, the issue of implementing research-based practices in education and of encouraging faculty members to conduct research in order to improve their own practice is gaining considerable attention in various educational forums. The concepts of multiple intelligences, diverse learning styles, project-based learning, and other such ideas which have only lingered in the previous decade are robustly making their way to the doors of educational policy and reform. Thus, it is an imperative for strategic leadership in any educational institution to not simply concentrate on maintaining status quo, but on looking towards the horizon and considering how the institution can best prepare for the coming changes to the proverbial landscape. This type of leadership must be visionary, yet at the same time must be equipped with practical sensibilities that can recognize reasonable ideas from subordinates, superiors, and clients. This kind of leader is one who has the political will to follow through with decisions that may be unpopular to some if not most of his or her constituents, in order to realize greater gains for the organization in the future that will be appreciated by all. Such a leader is not content to see subordinates fulfilling their daily, regular responsibilities. Rather, the leader who is needed now is one who has the capacity to move subordinates beyond their comfort zones and direct them towards taking up goals that will transform the organization and enable it to keep with the changing times.

Thus, building readiness and willingness to make use of computer-aided instructional strategies is a primary aspect of this leadership strategy. This is at the core of the technology plan offered by this leadership. The plan entails creating avenues through which faculty and administrators can be more extensively exposed to technological innovations which may be utilized in the development of more effective instructional and administrative management strategies that are responsive to the times as well as to the competition. The institution owes it to its stakeholders, most especially its students to construct an immediate future where the use of technology is maximized in all aspects of operations. The appropriate management of resources and the driving thrust of competitive motivation among the faculty are essential qualities necessary for the accomplishment of this plan.

In closing, the leadership style and strategy proposed in this speech is one that makes a solemn promise, and this promise is to take the institution and its stakeholders ever forward into robust progress in the decades to come.
