Television Violence: An Element of Excitement that Transcends to Actual Acts

Brain stimulation is an actual process of brain function that happens when one engages in viewing television programs. The visual capacity of the eyes to see what is happening in a program passes through an operation that allows the brain to interpret the message that such program sends (Johnson, 2005). In consideration to this matter, the different television programs and their implicative messages intend to stay intact in the brain for a long time, intending to contemplate the possibility by which the message that has been received could be perplexed as an actual act on the part of the one who viewed the said program. It does not require one to be highly intellectual to undergo such procedural operation of thinking and interpretation of television programs and their messages. This is the reason why several crime psychologists identify violent television programs to have sustained the impact they have on individuals who have actually committed crimes in line with what they have viewed from a particular presentation.

When a the mind perceives a situation to be rather “normal” due to the regularity of its being familiarized with the said matter, something unusual does not seem so uncommon anymore (Schwartz, 2003). This is the same thing that is happening in individuals who are regularly watching violent programs or films in the television thus numbing their senses from the actual result of violence into their personality. This is the reason why even though television is a sensible invention of this age, it is still suggested that utilizing it and being fully affected by what it presents through programs and films should be handled carefully and with full control on the part of the individual indulging in the said form of recreation. Being cautious enough in choosing the right programs to watch pays so much advantage in setting the mind’s capacity to think and interpret in a proper path that leads to a sense of moral contention of what is right and what is wrong.
