Introduction
This paper explores how concealed carry laws work in U.S.A. It shows how it is important to carry firearms for self defense in public in relation to how such permission may increase crimes. This concealed carry law allows people to carry a handgun in public either before acquiring a permit or even after acquiring a permit from the local government of U.S. The carriage law works under various permits such as Concealed Handgun License, Concealed Carry Weapons, Carry of Concealed Deadly Weapon License and others have given citizens the privileges of carrying firearms in the public (Ayres & Donohue, 2003).
Problems of Concealed Carry Laws
Usage of guns may require some training to the holders on how to use them, their maintenance, and others which have not been well complied with by the holders leading to lack of knowledge on how to use them during an emergence. The lack of maintenance knowledge has also enabled many of such guns to fail during any attack from criminals hence being unproductive in provision of self defense. Also ownership of guns to the public has also increased death rates resulting from firearm holders, we have heard of a student who killed his classmates, also recently a guy attacked school kids and killed them in U.S.A. This merciless event has been happening due to permission of firearm carriage in U.S.A. In addition, this law has also led to acquiring of firearms to the robbers illegally from private retailers hence facilitating theft and terrorism within the states (Donohue, 2004).
Effectiveness of Control measures on Concealed Carry Laws
The government of U.S.A. has passed firearms controls laws. This has been passed in order to ensure legal ownership of firearms through registration in order to facilitate the process of arresting criminal hence minimized crimes. The governments of different states have passed strong private retailers control measures on sales of guns hence minimizing black market and ownership of unregistered guns. This has also faced challenges hence robbers would steal other people’s for crimes purposes. The government has also engaged in special such programs in order to acquire the unregistered gun, although this has been a challenge as people hide them in places they cannot be seen. Carriage of firearms in school and public offices has also been banned in order to ensure safety in such places. This restriction has not worked as we have heard of crimes being committed in school. Some states have restricted the number of firearms a holder is supposed to possess or carry in the public in order to minimize the occurrence of crimes. This has not worked as some people acquire firearms illegally hence increased crimes. This is all happening due to the permission provided by Concealed Carry Law for possession of firearms to the citizens (Plassmann & Whitley, 2003).
Solution
Certain tight laws have been passed in order to control sales of guns by unregistered retailers. This has been observed to minimize the sales of guns illegally. These laws will make sure no firearms are unregistered by the holders hence minimizing the chance of committing crimes. As it has been indicated by a number of citizens, most of guns which are involved in crimes and murders are not generally registered hence passage of gun-control measures. The training is also currently being held in different places from the government officials on how registered holders should use such firearms so as to ensure their safety by such firearms is successful (Moody & Marvell, 2008).
Conclusion
The possession of firearms is important as it guarantees self defense. The local government of different states in U.S. should pass tight control measures to minimize the occurrence of crimes arising from non registered holders. It is also important for the government to campaign on firearms usage training among the users. This will easily facilitate proper use hence guaranteed self defense. The criminals fear being killed by hand gun holders hence decreased crimes, so the government should make sure the citizens acquire firearms legally for efficient control.
