NOVICA finance project, in Peru, is seeking a grant of $50 K to finance various productive activities among the apparel artisan in Peru. The funding will be used to finance artisans work shop and assist them in elevating the quality, fit and finishing of their garments. In tandem to this, funding will help in development and design of pima cotton items for summer collection, therefore, allowing all year sale of apparel from the same group.
Apparel artisans in Peru have wide problems in perfecting fits and styling their garments; nonetheless, current trends have shown that perfecting and styling garment will be very important for attracting customers or even increasing the sales volume. Another problem is that Alpaca is very seasonal when it comes to supply of cotton making it difficult to maintain a continuous supply of the garment during winter periods.
Justification for implementing the Project
Implementation of this program will play a key role in helping the artisan of alpaca in increasing their supply of the garment to carter for the ever increasing demand, due to the stated challenges; various artisans have not been able to explore the available opportunity of supplying the ever increasing demand of garments in Peru.
Project Goal & Objectives
The overall vision novice finance project is encapsulated in the following statement:
NOVICA finance project works to create a potential environment for Peru artisan to increase their talent in production of garments and develop new channels of ensuring continuous flow of these garments.
We do this through:
- Promoting awareness among the artisan
- Conducting training and campaigns among artisan to equip them to face new challenges
- Piloting cost effective methods of production of garments and creating market for them.
The goals of NOVICA are to ensure that every artisan in alpaca is equipped with the necessary knowledge and training among the artisans of Peru. Our goal is also to ensure that, within the next two years, the artisan will have a continuous flow of materials that will help overcome the seasonal challenges that they have been experiencing in the past years while in garments business.
Strategy & Activities Results: Outputs and Outcomes
The planed output and outcomes for the project will be as follows:
- At least 4 projects operating in every part of Peru;
- Artisans workbook and facilitators guides for each training modules
- At least 100 certificated graduates of the programs
- Independent artisan firms in each district of Peru
- A report detailing the experience and impact of the project as a basis for reliability
The outcome of the project is expected to increase the sales of alpaca as follows:
We are asking the World Bank to provide the sum of $ 50k which will be used for the period of 2 years as follows shown in the table below
While budgeting, we have concluded that the provided fund will be distributed equally for the period of two years in which the training workshop will take place.
